Sun, Sand, and Sweet Family Memories on the Carolina Coast šØāš©āš§āš¦š
By PlanetXploration.com
Thereās something magical about packing up the car, loading in snacks, swimsuits, and just enough chaos to keep things interestingāand heading to the coast š“
This past weekend, my husband, our two kids (our adventurous little boy and our curious, sunshine-loving girl), and I escaped to Myrtle Beach for a much-needed family getaway. And let me tell you⦠it was the kind of weekend that turns into core memories āØ

⨠A Whimsical Weekend in Myrtle Beach
āMyrtle Beach gave us more than a weekend getawayāit gave us sandy toes, sunset laughs, and the kind of family memories that stay with you long after the waves fade.ā

š Friday: Arrival, Ocean Air & Sunset Magic
We checked into our beachfront vacation rental just in time for golden hourāand instantly dropped everything to run straight to the beach (because priorities š).
The kids kicked off their shoes, sprinted toward the waves, and within minutes we were:
šļø Building sandcastles
šŖ Flying a kite in the salty breeze
š Splashing in the waves with boogie boards
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we wrapped up the night with a cozy little beach momentā
š„ Roasting marshmallows
š« Making sāmores
š
Watching the sky turn pink and gold
Honestly⦠it doesnāt get better than that.

š„ Saturday: Pancakes, Play & Boardwalk Lights
We started Saturday the only right wayābreakfast at one of Myrtle Beachās famous pancake houses š„ (because vacation calories donāt count, right?).
Then it was off to explore:
š” Boardwalk + Sky-High Views
Walking the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk felt like stepping into a summer movieāmusic, laughter, ocean air, and nonstop energy.
We couldnāt miss the iconic SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, and riding it as a family was one of those āwowā moments. Seeing the coastline from above with the kids pointing out everything below? Pure magic.
š Underwater Adventures
Next stop: Ripleyās Aquarium of Myrtle Beach
The kids were completely mesmerized walking through the shark tunnel š¦
(And yes⦠I think I was just as excited as they were š
)
š Lunch Break
We grabbed lunch at River City Cafeāa fun, laid-back spot with amazing burgers and a vibe kids love.
š¢ Afternoon Thrills
After lunch, it was time for rides and laughs at Family Kingdom Amusement Park š”
Think:
š Classic rides
š¢ Kid-friendly coasters
š Nonstop giggles
š£ Dinner with a View
We ended the day at The Wicked Tunaāfresh seafood, waterfront views, and one of those meals where everyone slows down and just soaks it in.

šæ Sunday: Slow Mornings & Nature Adventures
We started Sunday with brunch at Croissants Bistro & Bakery āš„
(Highly recommend⦠everything. Seriously.)
šø Garden Strolls
Next, we wandered through the peaceful beauty of Brookgreen Gardens
Between the sculptures, Spanish moss, and quiet trails, it felt like we stepped into another world. The kids loved spotting wildlife, and we loved the slower pace.
š£ State Park Adventures
Before heading home, we made one last stop at Myrtle Beach State Park
We spent the morning:
š£ Fishing off the pier
š² Walking shaded trails
š Collecting seashells
It was the perfect, peaceful ending to a full weekend.
š¤ One Last Coastal Dinner
We couldnāt leave without one more Southern seafood meal at Sea Captain’s House š¤
Ocean views, fresh seafood, and that āwe donāt want this trip to endā feeling.
⨠Final Thoughts
Traveling as a family isnāt always perfectābut itās always worth it š
Myrtle Beach gave us the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and connection. From sandy toes to late-night laughs, this weekend reminded me why we do thisāwhy we explore, why we travel, and why these moments matter so much.
š¬ A Little Travel Mama Truth
āSometimes the best adventures arenāt the farthest awayātheyāre the ones where your kids laugh the loudest, the sunsets feel warmer, and your heart feels completely full.ā šāØ
